Hi, I’m Maya.

I am a South New Jersey native based in Philly with a passion for writing, storytelling and art that has been nurtured in me from a very early age by my mother. My family home was filled to the brim with books featuring Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni and my namesake, Maya Angelou. When I was seventeen years old, I attended my very first spoken word poetry event, falling in love with, and honing my craft ever since. For as long as I can remember, indulging my creativity and my passion for writing has been a powerful tool for inner healing, connecting with others and fellowship with my Creator.

As a culmination of all the above, Sincerely, Angelique is a creative studio producing offerings that transform hearts and spaces through poetry, original artwork, and assisting heart-centered businesses with administrative needs. Featuring profound themes in faith, womanhood, and deep contemplation, I seek to create soft spaces to land for all who come across my work.

I have had the privilege of serving as the curator of the BLK Ivy Poetry Collective, a successful monthly open mic and salon series to further uplift BIPOC writers within Philadelphia for a full calendar year at BLK Ivy Thrift in West Philadelphia. My work has garnered fellowships with Brooklyn Poets and the PAX Foundation, as well as partnerships with local organizations such as Mural Arts Philadelphia to write and produce spoken word videos for their National Poetry Month initiative. The success of the project led to the opportunity to perform my original piece “For CAICU”, at the mural dedication for the Norris Square community on Susquehanna Avenue and Front Street.

Here are Sincerely Angelique, I hope to join you in creating your own soft place to land.

Hit me up, and let’s discover how me can make your vision come to life.

  • “Maya Angelique was such a beautiful addition to our There Will Be Fruit Mixer in NYC. Our goal is to create space for Kingdom creatives and entrepreneurs and she brought incredible professionalism and talent for our event. Maya was very intentional with making sure her pieces were in alignment with our theme as well. Would book again!”

  • I had the pleasure of collaborating with Maya Angelique while serving as Senior Director of Communications and Brand Management at Mural Arts Philadelphia, the nation's largest public art program. Maya made valuable contributions to our storytelling efforts through her exceptional writing, authoring several engaging blog posts on a range of topics that expanded our organization's voice and reach. She also lent her talents as a spoken-word artist for video content featured in a social media campaign, bringing authenticity, creativity, and impact to the work. Throughout our collaboration, Maya was consistently professional, thoughtful, and highly effective. I enthusiastically recommend her as a creative collaborator and talented communicator.
